Tempest V, No. 150 Wing, June 1944, "Roland Beamont"
execution by SkyMax; again, just insert here all the nice
things there are to say about these models.
The gear installed perfectly, though the Hobby Master pilot lost about
50 percent of its mass before it would fit in the seat. It would be
nice if HM sold a packet of just British pilots; those figures seem
to go faster than the others. I've been thinking of repainting the
extra WWII German pilots in Japanese and Russian colors. However,
perhaps packets of blanks from the British mold (which makes figures
of the correct size) would work as well; a little tempera paint, followed
by some satin varnish, and one could make some pretty good looking
(and durable) pilot figures. I used to paint 25mm toy soldiers, and
enjoyed doing so, but stopped after seeing some of the expertly painted
versions in modeling mags. A most embarrassing revelation.
