This is Corgi's original version of the P-51D, copyrighted in 2000.
Of all the first generation Corgi molds, this one had to be the
worst. Many a time I've pondered the shapes of these models (I own
a copy of each one, I think) trying to figure out why they look
so odd. With the release of the new mold, the reason for the oddness
is obvious: the cowling was bulky, bulgy,and lacked a smoothly curved
atop. The bulkiness and bulginess was due to the poorly designed
mold; the lack of cowling smoothness was poor machining during fitting
