DH Vampire FB.9 No. 28 Squadron, RAF Far East Air Force, Kai Tak, Hong Kong, late 1955
Aviation Archive. This cutie was made in 2007 during Corgi's less auspicious period. But, bucking the trend of those years, the model came out pretty well, the one major flaw being scratches in the paint on top of the fuselage. My own, very uninformed, opinion is that the manufacturing plants during mid-decade surfaced all their work benches with sand paper, making it almost impossible to miss scratching something on the already painted model. What other answer could there be, mmmmm? Anyway, I like these little Vampires, and wish more of the single-seat version would be produced, though that probably won't happen, if Corgi's reduced output is any indication.

Note that the MiG-15 shown in some of these photos was operational with the Chinese People's Volunteer Air Force in North Korea in 1953, while the Vampire was still operational with the RAF in Hong Kong in 1955.
