Gloster Meteor F.Mk.8, 601 (Royal Auxiliary Air Force) Squadron, RAF North Weald, Essex, 1953
Aviation Archive. Birth of the Cold War. This model was produced for the US market in 2005. The build quality is excellent, with the exception of some minor glue seepage here and there. The plastic on the canopy is thicker than most Corgis, and much thicker than same-scale Hobby Master offerings. The main landing gear is preassembled, and fits perfectly, as does the nose gear. All-and-all, those busy hands at the factory did good. One thing I've noticed about my personal collecting tastes: They change! This is obvious when you compare this Meteor review with my last one. Now that Corgi is releasing fewer models per month, I find myself eagerly searching out older releases, particularly early jets, models in which I had only a passing interest before.
