1/48 Warplanes
Carousel 1 & Hobby Master United States, Corgi British

Four piston-engined naval fighters, modelled by Corgi, Hobby Master, and Carousel 1. All four models are excellent, though the Hobby Master examples win best-of-show, having top-notch finishes, assembly, and engineering. Of special note is the F4B-4, mainly because of the powder-like finishes of the red and blue colors. The F3F-1 has one of the finest aluminum finishes I've ever seen. The finish on the Corgi model is well applied, and the colors are excellent, but a little pink intrudes into the white in the bold stripes. Unusual for Carousel 1, their silver paint finish doesn't match well with the gloss green, yellow, and white. Click on the thumbs below for more examples.
